Statement from the Chair

Our Board of Trustees (Board) has established a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction for the school; to ensure the safety and well-being of all our pupils and staff; we hold the Headteacher to account in terms of the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and to oversee the financial performance of the school - making sure that its money is well spent.

We are proud to support the school as volunteers and are confident that as a leadership team we can secure its ‘good’ status when next inspected by Ofsted. The school provides a broad and balanced education for all our pupils and delivers on our mission to ‘Aspire and Achieve All Together’.  We work closely with all our staff, through monitoring visits, learning walks and data workshops as this engagement enables us to confidently challenge leadership in our role as a critical friend.

One of our roles is to review and agreeing school policies, and last year we considered a number of policies,

  • Behaviour
  • Sex and Relationship Education
  • Medical Conditions
  • Equality objectives
  • Finance Regulations
  • Collective Worship
  • Special Educational Needs / Disabilities
  • Child Protection and Safeguarding

Too name just a few – all school policies are published on our website and available through the office.

The Board will continue to focus on: school improvement; embedding changes to the curriculum and assessment to ensure future sustainability as we work together throughout 2017/18.

One of our priorities is to ensure that all our children including those with special needs and/or disability are well supported. We will continue to focus on how the Pupil Premium Grant is being spent by the school and what impact this has on their outcomes. There are link governors, who have responsibility for special education needs and/or disability, pupil premium, curriculum and safeguarding all of which are of great importance and reports are submitted to the Board to ensure all Trustees have an opportunity to understand the successes and areas of improvement across the vast functions the school performs.

We are confident that our link with the Forest Way Teaching Schools Alliance along with the enthusiasm and dedication of our Headteacher and all staff that we will continue to ensure our provision is successful and a brilliant learning environment for every pupil!

Minutes of Board and its Committee meetings are public documents – you can request these via our school office or by contacting our Clerk helenab6@bottesford.leics.sch.uk.

Yours faithfully

Lucy Jackson
