Welcome to KS1!
My name is Miss Stacey Keuneke and I am the Key Stage One Lead here at Bottesford Primary, you will find me in Holly Class. Also based in KS1 are Miss Emma Bradley, in Elm, and Miss Lucy Dobson in Oak.
Our class will be covered for PPA by Mrs Mills and Mrs Killen-Smith.
We will be supported by various adults throughout the week; Mrs Goslin, Mrs Gilbert, Mrs Arizmendi, Mrs Yarham, Mrs Roberts, Mrs Smith, Mrs Morton, Mrs Feasby and Mrs Wesselby.
What are we learning?
Our topic this half term is 'All About Me'.
In Literacy the children will be writing a series of texts based on what we are reading. We will focus on phonics, reading, writing, handwriting, spelling, punctuation and grammar knowledge. Children will have daily Phonics sessions as well as Literacy lessons.
Mathematics will be taught through a range of practical activities which will build up to recording in books. The first part of the term is going to be focused on place value and addition and subtraction. Later on we will be learning about multiplication and division, shape and time.
In Science we are going to be looking at animals, including humans, including labelling body parts, finding out about their basic needs and looking at the importance of exercise, eating the right amounts of food and hygiene.
In Art we will be investigating different artists, such as Picasso and Andy Warhol, as inspiration to create our own self-portraits.
In Geography we will focus on our local area and where we are in the world. We will learn about the countries and the continents of the world and how things might be similar or different in other countries.
In Music we will be investigating a variety of instruments and learning about pitch and tone, as well as learning how to follow a beat or rhythm. We will also learn a range of songs.
In R.E we will be learning about God, Creation and Fall including Harvest and Remembrance.
In Computing we will be focussing on e-safety, including what information is private and what we can and cannot share online, what to do if something worries us and the importance of being kind online. We will also be exploring different websites and apps to improve our skills.
In PSHE we will be learning about our rights and responsibilities, and what is right and what is wrong. We will also be exploring teamwork and how we can do this effectively, reflecting on our successes.
