Sportshall Athletics Competition 2017

On Friday the 11th November, Bottesford CE took part in the very popular Melton and Belvoir School Sportshall athletics championships held at Brooksby Melton College. This event featured more than 200 pupils from Year 5 and 6.

The programme, provided by Sportshall Athletics, included a range of track and field events adapted for indoor competition. These events included relay races, javelin, standing long jump, triple jump, vertical jump and speed bounce, with teams from each school competing in every event. After a fantastic event, Bottesford finished with the bronze medal in 3rd place and were also selected by the Brooksby Sports leaders as the winners of the 'Spirit of the Games Award' for displaying excellent sportsmanship and respect to their fellow athletes.

Final results were:

1. Brownlow 692points;   2. Frisby 642points;    3. Bottesford 624points;   

4. Old Dalby B team 578points;     5. Sherard 534points;    6. Stathern 526points;

7. Great Dalby 524points; 8. Ab Kettleby 522points;  9. The Grove 514points;

10. Old Dalby A team 492points.

Quad Kids Athletics

On Friday 16th June Bottesford CE Primary took a team of 8 Year 3 & 4 children (4 boys + 4 girls) and 8 Year 5 & 6 pupils off to Long Field Academy to compete in the annual Quadkids Athletics Championships.

Year 3 and 4 Quadkids format:

Each child competed in each of the following events: 50 metres sprint, 400 metres run, vortex throw and the standing long.

Year 5 and 6 Quadkids format:

Each from the Yr5 and 6 team competed in each of the following events: 75metre sprint, 600metre run, vortex throw and the standing long jump.

As the competition came to a close, the Year 3 and 4 team finished in a very respectable 8th place whilst the Year 5 and 6 team finished in 1st place taking the Gold Medal - a fantastic performance by all involved.
